READING, UK, June 17, 2019 – DataCore Software today announced that its Evergreen Garden Care testimonial has been voted ‘Storage Solution of the Year’ in the 2019 Storage Awards announced in London at a gala awards dinner last Thursday. The announcement falls hot on the heels of the equally significant win in May with the same testimonial case study at the 2019 DCS Awards, winning the hotly contested project category of ‘Data Centre ICT Storage Innovation of the Year.’
Brett Denly, Regional Director, DataCore Software was on stage to collect the awards at both events. He noted. “This was the category that we most wanted to win as it clearly exemplifies the power of DataCore’s Software-Defined Storage to offer fast infrastructure enablement, even in complex SAP HANA environments. Both entries detailed how Evergreen overcame some extra-ordinary challenges in terms of time, ingesting data sets and running critical apps without transaction interruption in their move away from US based parent company, Scotts Miracle Grow. We were delighted to have our Gold Partner and trusted advisor to the project, Waterstons Ltd, join us on stage.”
Indeed, voters from the readership of Digitalisation World and the judges of the Storage Magazine voting panel both recognized and rewarded Evergreen’s endeavours achieved in under 14 months without compromise to millions of transactions and the global supply chain across continents.
Peter Davies, Sales Manager of the Digitalisation World portfolio at Angel Business Communications, organisers of DCS Awards said: ” I’m delighted that we have this annual opportunity to recognise the innovation and success of a significant part of the IT and Infrastructure community. The number of entries, and the quality of the projects, products and people they represent, demonstrate that the DCS Awards continue to go from strength to strength and fulfil an important role in highlighting and recognising much of the great work that goes on in the industry. This year’s Finalists represent the very best in the industry and DataCore were voted as outstanding by our readership to win their category.”
Stuart Leigh, Organiser of the 2019 Storage Awards reflected that over 47,000 votes were cast online this year making this the biggest Storage Awards to date.
Here’s the opening extract from DataCore’s winning entry at Evergreen that caught the eye of judges and readers:
“How do you continue trading household brands such as MiracleGro, RoundUp and Weedol without interruption from 8 countries as far as Australia, when you no longer have the systems in place that you used to rely on? That was the situation at Evergreen just 14 months ago with the creation of a new international entity. Evergreen’s IT management team also wanted to embrace a strategy that would promote digital change and allow for flexible growth for expansion of the standalone business in the future. The new company appointed an Interim CIO with extensive experience of M&A, Steve Williams. “With the impending move away from the US corporate infrastructure, we had the chance to create a highly performant environment engineered from the ground up. In total we had 76 business systems to consider and due to criticality and process enhancement, we prioritised delivery of a new SAP ERP system first.” In between, IT had to keep the lights on with the existing systems to keep commerce turning. As with all steep challenges come distinct opportunities to modernise and embrace digital change and growth. Evergreen now had the real chance to implement slicker processes that would give market edge and deliver product innovation bringing new products to market faster than ever before and across international boundaries…”
