DataCore Software will introduce the latest release of its SANsymphony software–defined storage platform at Powering the Cloud/SNW Europe 2013
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. & FRANKFURT AM MAIN, Germany, October 23, 2013 – DataCore Software, the leader in software–defined storage architecture and premier provider of storage virtualization software, will do a showcase presentation of how customers are using its software-defined storage solutions and introduce its new release of the SANsymphony™ storage virtualization platform at Powering the Cloud/SNW Europe 2013 (Congress Center, Frankfurt A.M., Oct. 30-31, Stand 18). Addressing the requirements of today’s software-defined data center infrastructures, the new SANsymphony release sets the new standard for software–defined storage and provides much greater scalability, faster next–generation replication services for disaster recovery, automatic self-healing storage capabilities, expanded platform integration and new space reclamation and offload services by supporting Microsoft ODX and VMware VAAI. The new release will be previewed at the show and will be generally available from DataCore on November 4, 2013.
“Everyone is talking about software-defined storage. What is most ironic to me is that it has become such an important movement that it is now being driven by the marketing machines of even the major hardware vendors who are making marketing claims that distance themselves from the hardware they have just sold their customer base,” says Christian Hagen, vice president EMEA, who will represent DataCore Software with European top–level representatives at this industry leading event. “Clearly, there is great momentum and interest which confirms the large market opportunity that we see before us. We have successfully pursued a ‘software-defined’ approach over the last 15 years and have thousands of software-defined customer installations worldwide validating our solutions. SNW Europe 2013 is an ideal platform for end users and partners to get the latest developments and upcoming updates on our flagship SANsymphony and its key role for the cost-efficient, flexible and future-proof software-defined data center.”
SANsymphony is a true hardware-independent software-defined storage virtualization platform designed to scale and meet the demanding availability and performance needs required by virtual infrastructures. The storage virtualization features work universally across both internal local disks and flash technologies within a server as well as to external storage systems connected remotely over storage networks. SANsymphony manages, virtualizes and auto-tiers across all the popular flash/SSD technologies and spinning disk devices. DataCore automates and optimizes the use of fast in-memory technology with its self-tuning and adaptive cache and powerful auto-tiering features. New highlighted capabilities within the release include:
- Twice the scaling with support for up to 16 federated nodes
- Scales performance and HA; federated nodes can span Metro-wide distances
- Advanced next generation remote replication services
- Speeds up performance for remote replication and disaster recovery
- New self-healing storage services
- Reduces business downtime from hardware failures
- New failsafe non-disruptive data mobility services between storage pools
- Increases overall resiliency
- New Microsoft ODX and VMware VAAI services
- Offloads hosts to accelerate performance and data mobility operations
- New space reclamation services
- Allows IT organizations to reclaim unused capacity they already own
- New change-control management and audit trail logs
- Helps prevent avoidable errors and simplifies troubleshooting
On October 30th at 11:00 am, Alex Best, one of DataCore’s storage virtualization gurus, will be evangelizing on “The Future of the Software–Defined Data Center.” On October 30th at 2:00 pm, Paul Alexander, IT director, Open University, explains the benefits of using DataCore: “Initially we went for DataCore to achieve redundancy and security between two locations. What was fantastic was that we were able to integrate the majority of our existing storage. With the environment growing, we upgraded to SANsymphony, DataCore’s fast and feature–rich latest offering. As new projects come on board, they themselves present new challenges in the software and hardware requirements. DataCore’s software layer helped us seamlessly meet these challenges and has always been growing and expanding with us. We always expect the unexpected, and that is why I am pleased to work with DataCore as it continues to help us to solve our problems.”
“Stop Fighting Your Storage Hardware”
Hardware independence, higher availability for non-stop business operations, faster application performance and cost–saving strategies build the four main pillars of a software-defined strategy with DataCore. DataCore Software recently launched a European-wide education and information campaign to spread the word on the benefits of storage virtualization and software-defined storage architectures. Information resources including informative webcasts, links to video series on storage virtualization, white papers, “How To” guides and regional case studies are now available on DataCore’s “Stop Fighting Your Storage Hardware” sites. They are showing how customers have achieved a software–defined data center that can maximize business productivity and capitalize on their current hardware investments.
DataCore VDS 2.0 – The VDI Solution
Visitors at the DataCore stand 18 will also find out more about the recently announced DataCore VDS 2.0 software. DataCore VDS overcomes the VDI adoption issues and addresses the major market need for affordable desktop virtualization solutions in a climate where smaller budgets and the European financial crisis are impacting all IT decisions. DataCore VDS 2.0 removes many of the most painful implementation obstacles while significantly reducing the cost per virtual desktop instance.
